Fort Walton Beach, Florida is in the Panhandle (northwestern) part of Florida, between Eglin AFB and Hurlburt Field. Touted for many years as The Emerald Coast, the beach is only minutes from where you choose to live. While Fort Walton Beach is between Hurlburt Field and Eglin AFB, other areas you might choose to live are Shalimar, Mary Esther, Destin, Navarre, Niceville, ValParaiso, Crestview, Baker, Milton, Holt, DeFuniak Springs. Gulf Breeze, Pensacola, Sandestin, Seagrove Beach are all farther out, but still offer the beach atmosphere. Activities you'll find are the Destin Fishing Rodeo, Stagecraft Community Theater, Oz Theater, Billy Bowlegs Festival just to name a few. This area has multiple activities to keep you busy, or you can spend your time visiting the beach. Visit the Okaloosa County School system, the Walton County School system, the Santa Rosa County School system, and the Escambia County School system.All provide excellent information on the schools in the given county you choose to live in. The weather in Fort Walton Beach can get down below freezing during the winter, usually only at night, and usually only briefly. The summer averages around 90 degrees and humidity levels vary.
